The group started in 2009 as The North Wiltshire ASD Support Group as there was a clear need for a parent support group in the area. We have run a number of successful events, including regular Coffee Mornings/afternoons, Autumn Craft Event, Childrens Christmas Party and Family Fun Afternoons.
We have a committee of parents with children that are on the Autistic Spectrum, who are committed to taking the group forward.
The group plans to support parents/carers/siblings of ASD children by:
- Bring families of ASD children together through regular coffee mornings/afternoons and occasional evenings out to share information and experiences.
- Organise outings and events for the ASD children to meet and socialise with other children on the Autistic Spectrum and their sibings.
- Support families of children with our common experience with regards to filling forms, benefits, access to various support agencies.
- Let our members know of local events planned by other agencies that may be of interest.
- Raise awareness of our group locally so that people have a better understanding of Autism and can access any information that we have.
